Richmar® Quattro™ 2.5 Professional 4-Channel Electrotherapy Device

The Richmar Quattro 2.5 is a professional four-channel electrical-stimulation system for physical therapy clinics, rehabilitation departments, chiropractic offices, sports-medicine practices, athletic-training rooms, and other clinician-directed treatment settings.

Five electrotherapy waveform families are built into one compact tabletop device:

  • TENS

  • EMS

  • Russian stimulation

  • IF-2P premodulated interferential

  • IF-4P traditional interferential

The Quattro 2.5 also provides two programmable treatment groups, 50 preset programs, user-defined protocols, professional two-step programming, constant-current and constant-voltage operation, and a large graphical LCD display. This combination gives clinicians considerably more control than a basic portable TENS or two-channel combination stimulator.

Sale by or on the order of a physician or licensed practitioner. It is intended for use under the continuing supervision of a qualified professional.

For complete setup, parameter, safety, cleaning, error code, and troubleshooting information, read our Quattro 2.5 Manual Summary, Safety, and Specifications.

Understanding the four-channel design

The Quattro 2.5 has four output channels, but the programming is organized into two treatment groups.

Treatment group Channels Shared programming Individual adjustment
Group 1 Channels 1 and 2 Waveform, program, timer and treatment parameters Separate intensity for Channels 1 and 2
Group 2 Channels 3 and 4 Waveform, program, timer and treatment parameters Separate intensity for Channels 3 and 4

This arrangement allows the clinician to run a different waveform, program, timer, and intensity configuration on Channels 1–2 than on Channels 3–4. This can support two treatment areas or two patients at the same time when clinically appropriate and properly supervised.

It should not be marketed as four entirely separate programmable systems. The intensities are individually controlled, but waveform and timing selections are shared within each two-channel group.

Electrotherapy modes explained

Mode Electrode arrangement General purpose under professional direction
TENS Commonly 2 or 4 electrodes Sensory-level stimulation for symptomatic pain relief
EMS synchronous Two channels contract together Coordinated muscle-contraction programs
EMS asynchronous Channels alternate Alternating muscle or bilateral stimulation programs
Russian synchronous Channels burst together Medium-frequency muscle-contraction programs
Russian asynchronous Channels alternate Alternating Russian-stimulation programs
IF-2P / Premodulated 2 electrodes Premixed interferential-style output for focused or simpler placement
IF-4P / Interferential 4 electrodes Traditional crossed-current interferential arrangement

Symptomatic relief of chronic intractable pain and acute post-traumatic or post-surgical pain for TENS and interferential modes. Its EMS and Russian indications include muscle-spasm relaxation, prevention of disuse atrophy, local circulation, muscle re-education, maintaining or increasing range of motion, and immediate postoperative lower-leg stimulation for prevention of venous thrombosis when appropriately ordered and supervised.

Technical waveform ranges

Waveform Key adjustable ranges
IF-4P 4 kHz carrier; 1–150 Hz beat-frequency range; vector control; 0–50 mA CC or 0–50 V CV at 1 kΩ
IF-2P 4 kHz carrier; 1–150 Hz beat-frequency range; 0–50 mA CC or 0–50 V CV at 1 kΩ
TENS 1–250 Hz; 30–400 µs phase duration; frequency modulation; burst; amplitude modulation; 0–100 mA CC or 0–100 V CV at 1 kΩ
EMS 1–250 Hz; 30–400 µs pulse duration; amplitude and frequency modulation; contraction/relaxation cycles; ramp controls; 0–100 mA CC or 0–100 V CV at 1 kΩ
Russian 2.5 kHz carrier; 2–100 Hz burst frequency; 10%–50% duty cycle; ramp and cycle controls; 0–50 mA CC or 0–50 V CV at 1 kΩ
Treatment time 1–60 minutes

These are device capabilities, not recommended patient settings. Treatment parameters must be selected according to the prescription, clinical assessment, waveform, electrode size, placement, patient response, and complete device instructions.

Constant current vs. constant voltage

The Quattro 2.5 allows the clinician to select either CC or CV operation.

Output mode How it behaves Practical consideration
Constant current The unit adjusts voltage within its capability to maintain the selected current as resistance changes Commonly selected when controlled current delivery is important
Constant voltage The unit maintains the selected voltage; delivered current changes as circuit resistance changes May be selected according to the electrode system, waveform and clinical protocol

Neither mode is automatically superior for every treatment. The choice should be made by a trained clinician using the manual, electrode instructions, facility protocol, and patient-specific treatment plan.

Emma ★★★★★

I was skeptical about trying Russian Stim at home, but the pre-set programs on this unit make it surprisingly easy to follow. The intensity ramps up smoothly, and the electrode pads stay put even during movement.

Lucy ★★★★★

Set the IFC mode to 2.5 on a stubborn knee and the difference in how deep the pulse feels versus my old home unit is honestly night and day, and being able to run four leads at once cut treatment time in half. The interface is straightforward enough that I didn't need the manual past the first sessi

Emma X. ★★★★★

The four independent channels are a lifesaver when I need to treat both knees and shoulders in one session. The interface is straightforward enough that I figured out the TENS and EMS settings within a few minutes of unboxing it.
