Richmar TheraTouch® Clinical Therapy Systems—CX2, CX4 & EX4

The Richmar TheraTouch® clinical therapy family gives rehabilitation and physical-therapy practitioners a choice of two- or four-channel electrotherapy, therapeutic ultrasound, combination therapy, and mobile therapy-cart configurations from one clinical platform.

Six configurations are available:

  • CX2 DQ8222—2-channel electrotherapy + 1/3 MHz ultrasound

  • CX2 + Cart DQ8202 — CX2 supplied with the TheraTouch therapy cart

  • CX4 DQ8200—4-channel electrotherapy + 1/3 MHz ultrasound

  • CX4 + Cart DQ8001 — CX4 supplied with the TheraTouch therapy cart

  • EX4 DQ7200—4-channel electrotherapy without ultrasound

  • EX4 + Cart DQ7001 — EX4 supplied with the TheraTouch therapy cart

The easiest way to choose is to decide whether you need ultrasound, how many stimulation channels you need, and whether the unit should be mounted on a mobile storage cart.

Which TheraTouch System Should I Choose?

Model Electrotherapy channels 1 & 3 MHz ultrasound Combination therapy Therapy cart Best fit
CX2 2 Yes. Yes. No Compact combination system
CX2 + Cart 2 Yes. Yes. Yes. Mobile 2-channel combination station
CX4 4 Yes. Yes. No Higher-channel combination system
CX4 + Cart 4 Yes. Yes. Yes. Complete mobile combination station
EX4 4 No No No Electrotherapy-only clinic
EX4 + Cart 4 No No Yes. Mobile electrotherapy station

CX2 vs. CX4 vs. EX4

The three device families share a similar clinical interface and electrotherapy platform, but they are designed for different workflows.

Choose the CX2 when:

You need therapeutic ultrasound plus electrotherapy, but two stimulation channels are sufficient.

The CX2 provides 1 MHz and 3 MHz ultrasound, pulsed and continuous operation, combination ultrasound/electrotherapy, and two stimulation channels in the most compact configuration in this group.

Choose the CX4 when:

You need the same ultrasound and combination-therapy capabilities but want four independent stimulation channels.

The extra channels make CX4 the better fit when a clinic routinely needs additional electrode circuits or multiple simultaneous stimulation applications.

Choose the EX4 when:

You need four-channel clinical electrotherapy but do not need therapeutic ultrasound.

Eliminating the ultrasound system makes EX4 the most economical route into the TheraTouch touchscreen, protocol, and waveform platform.

For other clinical stimulation equipment, browse our Clinical Electrotherapy collection.

Shared Electrotherapy Waveforms

CX2, CX4, and EX4 provide the same core professional electrotherapy waveform families:

The systems include eight preset stimulation protocols and allow customized parameters to be saved in up to 99 user-defined protocol locations.

A bilingual interface can be operated in English or Spanish.

Therapeutic Ultrasound on CX2 and CX4

CX2 and CX4 add dual-frequency therapeutic ultrasound:

Ultrasound specification CX2 CX4

3 MHz Yes. Yes.
Continuous output Yes. Yes.
Pulsed output Yes. Yes.
Ultrasound + stimulation combination Yes. Yes.
Standard 5 cm² applicator Yes. Yes.

EX4 does not provide therapeutic ultrasound.

For additional ultrasound systems, compare our Therapeutic Ultrasound Equipment & Combination Therapy Systems.

With Cart vs. Without Cart

The clinical device itself does not gain additional treatment modalities when the cart is added.

The difference is mobility, storage, and clinical organization.

Standard device Corresponding cart configuration
CX2 — DQ8222 CX2 + Cart — DQ8202
CX4 — DQ8200 CX4 + Cart — DQ8001
EX4 — DQ7200 EX4 + Cart — DQ7001

The DQCART-2 therapy cart is approximately 17 × 16.25 × 33.75 inches, weighs approximately 30 lb, uses locking wheels, and provides storage for electrodes, lead wires, ultrasound gel, and applicators.

Clinics can also purchase the TheraTouch Therapy Cart separately from Balego.

Exact Model Numbers Matter

Configuration Manufacturer REF
CX2 without cart DQ8222
CX2 with cart DQ8202
CX4 without cart DQ8200
CX4 with cart DQ8001
EX4 without cart DQ7200
EX4 with cart DQ7001

The model number should be used when ordering replacement accessories, verifying product identifiers, or comparing dealer offers.

What Is Included With CX2 and CX4?

The combination systems include the components required for their electrotherapy and ultrasound functions, including the main console, 5 cm² ultrasound applicator, electrotherapy lead wires, patient interrupt switch, compatible electrodes, combination lead, and ultrasound coupling medium.

The therapy cart is supplied only with the cart configurations.

Because manufacturer accessory packages can change, the current Richmar carton should control if a purchasing decision depends on one specific accessory.

For replacement ultrasound coupling medium, compare TheraSonic Ultrasound Gel.

What Is Included With EX4?

EX4 includes the electrotherapy console and its stimulation accessories, including lead wires, compatible electrodes, a patient interrupt switch, and a medical-grade power connection.

It does not include an ultrasound applicator because EX4 does not provide therapeutic ultrasound.

Replacement pads and stimulation accessories are available through our Electrotherapy Electrodes collection.

Optional CX2 Rechargeable Battery

CX2 can also use Richmar's optional DQBATT rechargeable battery.

The battery allows temporary operation when an AC electrical outlet is unavailable and carries a separate one-year manufacturer warranty.

The rechargeable battery is not the same thing as choosing DQ8202; DQ8202 means CX2 with a therapy cart.

TheraTouch vs. ComboCare

For buyers who need ultrasound plus stimulation but do not require the full TheraTouch interface and waveform set, we also carry the Richmar ComboCare Professional E-Stim & Ultrasound Device.

Feature TheraTouch CX2/CX4 ComboCare
1 & 3 MHz ultrasound Yes. Yes.
Ultrasound + e-stim Yes. Yes.
High Voltage Yes. No
Microcurrent Yes. No
RAAS Yes. No
Full-color protocol interface Yes. Different platform
Up to 99 saved protocols Yes. Different memory architecture
Clinical price tier Premium Value-oriented

Choose ComboCare when basic professional combination therapy is the priority.

Choose CX2 or CX4 when the broader electrotherapy waveform set and TheraTouch workflow are important.

Robert P. ★★★★★

The four-channel output on this unit is incredible for working on both shoulders and knees at the same time during a session. The intensity levels are precise enough for deep muscle work without any uncomfortable jolts. It’s made my home rehab sessions feel just like what I’d get at the clinic.

Kevin U. ★★★★★

I’ve used a lot of clinic-grade units over the years, and the four-channel setup here gives me the flexibility to treat both shoulders and a knee at once without swapping leads. The dials feel solid and the output is smooth, no jittery pulses even at higher intensities. My only tiny gripe is the cor

Claire Q. ★★★★★

The four-channel setup lets me treat both shoulders and knees in a single session, which has been a game-changer for my clinic’s daily flow. Took maybe ten minutes to figure out the interface, and the preset programs saved me a ton of time with repeat patients.
