Redux® Electrolyte Creme 66-04 – Conductive Cream for Routine ECG

Redux Electrolyte Creme by Parker Laboratories is a highly conductive, cosmetic-quality electrode cream recommended for routine ECG/EKG procedures.

The cream creates a conductive link between intact skin and compatible electromedical equipment when the ECG system or electrode instructions require a separate contact medium. Its cream consistency offers an alternative to conventional electrode gels for facilities that prefer a cosmetic-quality texture described by Parker as pleasing to patients.

Redux Creme is also bacteriostatic. It is supplied in a 114 g/4 oz tube under Parker Laboratories' product number 66-04. The product is nonsterile and intended only for external use on intact, unbroken skin.

Important: Redux Creme is intended for routine ECG procedures and is not indicated for defibrillation. Follow the instructions supplied with the ECG machine, electrode, or other electromedical equipment before applying any separate conductive medium.

What is an ECG electrode cream?

A conductive electrode cream helps establish electrical contact between intact skin and compatible ECG equipment. It fills small surface irregularities between the electrode and skin, helping create a more continuous conductive interface.

Redux Cream is most relevant when:

  • The ECG system uses reusable or non-pregelled electrodes.

  • The electrode manufacturer calls for a separate conductive cream.

  • A cosmetic-quality cream texture is preferred over a conventional gel.

  • The procedure is a routine ECG.

  • Adhesive hold and abrasive skin preparation are not required.

It should not be added automatically to modern pre-gelled ECG electrodes. Many disposable monitoring and diagnostic electrodes already have an integrated conductive hydrogel, and adding cream could interfere with adhesion or the intended electrode interface. Follow the ECG machine and electrode instructions.

For disposable alternatives, browse our monitoring ECG/EKG electrodes or compare Kendall Diagnostic Tab electrodes.

Bacteriostatic does not mean sterile

Redux Creme has a bacteriostatic formulation. It is nonsterile and intended only for external use on intact, unbroken skin.

How to use Redux Electrolyte Creme

There is not one prescribed universal application amount or technique. The IFU directs users to follow the instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the ECG or electromedical device.

  1. Confirm the procedure. Verify that the application is a routine ECG and that the equipment instructions call for a separate conductive cream.

  2. Inspect the tube. Do not use the product if the container is damaged or contamination is visible or suspected.

  3. Inspect the skin. Apply only to intact, unbroken skin.

  4. Avoid contaminating the tube. Do not allow the dispensing tip to touch the patient, electrode, staff member, glove, instrument, or another surface.

  5. Apply according to the ECG-equipment instructions. Use the quantity and placement specified by the equipment, electrode, or facility procedure.

  6. Complete the ECG procedure. Follow the ECG system’s electrode placement and operating instructions.

  7. Remove the residue. Wipe away Redux Creme with a moistened soft cloth.

  8. Close and store the tube. Protect it from direct sunlight.

Infection-control and tube handling

Redux Creme is supplied in a multiuse tube. To reduce contamination risk:

  • Dispense without touching the patient or equipment.

  • Do not place unused cream back into the tube.

  • Replace the cap promptly.

  • Do not share a contaminated applicator between patients.

  • Discard the tube if damage or contamination is suspected.

  • Follow the facility’s policy for nonsterile, multiuse contact materials.

  • Do not use Redux Creme when sterile contact media are required.

The container tip should not contact patients, personnel, or instruments.

Customer Reviews (4.6 / 5 · 5 reviews)

Jacob V. ★★★★★

The texture is much smoother than the typical gel, and it doesn't dry out during a long monitoring session. Really pleased with how well it conducts without leaving a sticky mess.

Emily ★★★★★

I’ve been using this cream for my home ECG setup, and it cleans off my skin much easier than the sticky gel I had before. The texture is smooth and doesn’t leave that annoying residue behind.

Timothy W. ★★★★★

First tube lasted me months of weekly ECGs, and the creme stays put without drying out mid-recording. The conductive gel gives a clean trace every time, though you'll want a towel handy since it doesn't fully absorb.
