Category: Pillows

The Core Products Sleep Log™ Pillow is a compact, fiber-filled positioning pillow designed to do more than sit beneath the neck.

Its distinctive bone-shaped profile can be positioned behind the neck, against the lower back, between or beneath the knees, or secured to a chair with the included adjustable strap. A zippered opening also provides access to the polyester fiber fill, allowing the amount of fill—and therefore the support feel—to be adjusted over time.

That versatility is the main reason to choose the Sleep Log over a conventional cervical sleeping pillow or a fixed-shape lumbar cushion.

One Pillow, Several Positioning Options

The Sleep Log is best understood as a multi-position support, not simply a miniature bed pillow.

Position How the Sleep Log is used What distinguishes it
Neck while sitting Narrow center positioned behind the neck Outer ends provide additional cushioning around the head/neck area
Lower back Positioned between the lumbar area and chair back The included strap can help keep the pillow at the selected height
Between the knees Placed between the legs during side lying Compact bone shape functions as a spacing cushion
Under the knees Positioned beneath the knees while lying on the back Provides a small fiber-filled support beneath the legs
Travel Used in a seat or carried using the side handles Smaller than a conventional full-size sleeping pillow
Lying-down neck support Positioned behind the head/neck Provides a compact alternative to a full-width pillow

Adjustable Fiber Fill: The Sleep Log's Most Useful Feature

Many compact support pillows give you one fixed thickness and firmness.

The Sleep Log takes a different approach. A heavy-duty zipper provides access to the polyester fiber filling. If the pillow feels too full for the intended position, fiber can be removed and stored for later. Fiber can then be returned as your preferred position or support level changes.

That means adjustment happens by changing the amount of fill, rather than inflating an air chamber or swapping foam inserts.

Adjustment system Sleep Log
Inflatable No
Molded foam No
Replaceable firmness insert No
Adjustable fiber quantity Yes
Adjustment requires a pump No
Can be readjusted later Yes

This is a useful distinction for buyers who find a fixed neck roll either too prominent or too shallow.

Sleep Log Full Size vs. Midsize

Size Current manufacturer dimensions Approx. weight Manufacturer's general starting guideline
Full Size 14" × 7" × 7" 0.7 lb Generally over 5'6"
Midsize 13" × 6" × 6" 0.5 lb Generally about 4'10"–5'6"

The included strap measures 60 inches.

Height is only a starting point. Neck length, shoulder width, body shape, and personal support preference can change which size feels appropriate.

Choose full size when:

  • You want the larger 14 × 7 × 7-inch support.

  • You generally fall into Core's taller sizing range.

  • You want more pillow volume for lumbar or leg positioning.

  • A larger neck-support profile is preferred.

Choose midsize when:

  • You want the smaller 13 × 6 × 6-inch size.

  • You generally fall into the midsize height range.

  • Compact travel/storage is particularly important.

  • A smaller support profile better matches your neck or body proportions.

Because the fiber itself can also be adjusted, pillow size and fill level are two separate decisions.

Sleep Log vs. Other Support Pillows

The Sleep Log overlaps several product categories, but none of the closest Balego alternatives have exactly the same combination of adjustable fiber, multi-area positioning, handles, and chair strap.

Balego product Construction Main use Best reason to choose
Sleep Log Bone-Shaped Pillow Adjustable polyester fiber Neck, lumbar, knees, seated or lying-down positioning You want one compact support that can move among several body areas
Travel Core Cervical Support Pillow Polyester fiber Dedicated cervical support while sitting or lying down You want a more neck-specific fiber travel pillow
Core Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow Solid memory foam Upright seated travel You prefer a compact U-shaped memory-foam neck pillow
Tri-Core Cervical Support Pillow Polyester fiber Full-size back and side sleeping You want a dedicated overnight cervical pillow with separate sleep surfaces
IMAK Ergo Back Cushion Sculpted foam Seated lumbar support Your primary concern is a fixed, chair-oriented lower-back contour
Headache Ice Pillow Fiber pillow + removable CorPak Neck support with optional heat/cold Integrated temperature therapy is part of the purchase

The comparison products above have their own dedicated pages with their full fitting systems and usage instructions.

Sleep Log vs. Travel Core: Which Fiber Travel Pillow?

These are particularly easy to confuse because both are compact Core Products fiber pillows.

Feature Sleep Log Travel Core
Shape Bone-shaped Horseshoe / cervical contour
Main material Polyester fiber Polyester fiber
Sizes Full + Midsize One size
Adjustable fill Yes Fixed product configuration
Positioning strap Yes, 60" Different travel-oriented design
Lumbar positioning Yes Not its primary role
Knee positioning Yes Not its primary role
Neck-specific design Multi-purpose More specialized
Main advantage Multiple body areas + adjustable fill Dedicated seated/lying cervical support

Choose the Sleep Log when adjustability and multi-area positioning are more important than having a dedicated cervical-pillow shape.

Choose the Travel Core Cervical Support Pillow when the purchase is specifically about compact neck support for both sitting and lying down.

Sleep Log vs. a Dedicated Lumbar Cushion

The Sleep Log can be placed behind the lower back, but it should not be confused with a permanently contoured lumbar cushion.

Feature Sleep Log IMAK Ergo Back Cushion
Core material Adjustable fiber Sculpted foam
Shape Bone-shaped / multi-purpose Pre-contoured for lumbar placement
Chair strap Yes Designed specifically for seated support
Neck use Yes No
Knee/leg use Yes No
Travel positioning Yes Yes
Main strength Versatility Dedicated seated lumbar contour

Choose the sleep log when you want support that can leave the chair and serve other positioning roles.

Choose the IMAK Ergo Back Cushion when it will primarily stay behind the lower back in an office chair, home chair, or vehicle seat.

Use the Strap to Keep the support where you want it.

The Sleep Log includes a 60-inch webbing positioning strap with a buckle. Core Products designed the strap for securing the pillow to compatible seating or helping maintain its selected position during use.

The side handles serve a second purpose: they make the pillow easier to position and can also be used when attaching or carrying it with luggage during travel.

For seat use:

  1. Position the pillow where support feels appropriate.

  2. Route and secure the strap around the compatible seat or backrest.

  3. Adjust the strap so the pillow stays at the desired height without deforming excessively.

  4. Recheck the position after sitting down.

Do not position any support in a vehicle where it interferes with the seat's safety features, head restraint, seat belt, or safe operation.

What the Sleep Log Is—and Is Not

The Sleep Log is a passive positioning and support pillow.

It provides:

  • Adjustable polyester fiber cushioning

  • Neck positioning

  • Seated lumbar positioning

  • Knee or leg positioning

  • Compact travel use

  • A strap for securing the pillow in selected positions

It is not a cervical or lumbar traction device and does not apply a measured pulling force.

If a clinician has specifically prescribed mechanical cervical traction, please see our Saunders Cervical Home Traction Device and the separate Saunders Cervical Traction Setup, Angles & Safety Guide. Traction force, angles, and treatment instructions belong in that dedicated resource rather than on a positioning-pillow page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sleep Log Pillow made from memory foam?

No. The Sleep Log uses polyester fiberfill.

For a solid memory-foam travel option, compare the Core Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow.

Can I adjust the firmness?

You can adjust the amount of fiber through the zippered opening. Removing fiber reduces the amount of fill; saved fiber can be returned later if more support is preferred.

Can the Sleep Log be used behind the lower back?

Yes, it can be positioned against the back while sitting, and the included strap can be used to help secure the cushion.

Can it be used between the knees?

Yes, placement between the knees for side-lying and beneath the knees for back-lying are intended positioning options.

Is it only a travel pillow?

No. Travel is one of several uses. The same pillow is designed for seated neck support, lying-down neck support, lumbar positioning, and knee/leg positioning.

What sizes are available?

The specification lists the full size as 14 × 7 × 7 inches and the midsize as 13 × 6 × 6 inches.

What colors do we offer?

We offer black and gray in both full and midsize selections.

Does it contain natural rubber latex?

Customer Reviews (4.6 / 5 · 5 reviews)

Mia ★★★★★

The bone shape actually stays in place when I shift positions at night, which is a huge upgrade from my old rectangular pillow. The fill is firm enough to support my neck without feeling like I'm sleeping on a brick.

Ella C. ★★★★★

I've tried countless neck pillows and this bone-shaped design actually stays put all night. The fiber fill is soft but supportive enough for side sleeping. Perfect for travel too since it's compact.

Timothy ★★★★★

I was skeptical about a bone-shaped pillow, but the curve fits right under my neck when I'm reading in bed. The fiber fill is firm enough to hold its shape without feeling hard. It's small too, so it doesn't take over the whole couch.
